Overview
WhatsApp Web Blur is a browser extension that provides visual privacy protection for WhatsApp Web by applying blur effects to sensitive content. This policy explains our data practices.
Data Collection
We do not collect any personal data. Specifically:
- We do NOT collect your WhatsApp messages or conversations
- We do NOT collect your contacts or profile information
- We do NOT collect your browsing history
- We do NOT use analytics or tracking
- We do NOT transmit any data to external servers
Local Storage
The extension stores your preferences (blur settings, language selection, idle timer duration) locally on your device using Chrome’s built-in storage API. If you are signed into Chrome, these preferences may sync across your devices through Google’s sync service. This is standard Chrome functionality and we have no access to this sync process.
How the Extension Works
The extension operates entirely within your browser. It:
- Injects CSS stylesheets into the WhatsApp Web page
- Applies visual blur effects to elements you choose to hide
- Removes blur effects when you hover over elements or toggle the extension
All processing happens locally in your browser. No data ever leaves your device.
Permissions Explained
| Permission | Purpose |

| Host access (web.whatsapp.com) | Required to inject CSS styles that create the blur effect |
Third Parties
We do not share any data with third parties because we do not collect any data.
Children’s Privacy
This extension does not collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
